Newquay is Cornwall’s largest and most iconic seaside town, renowned for its seven stunning beaches, surf culture, and rich history. Located approximately 12 miles north of the City of Truro, it has evolved from a quiet fishing village into a bustling holiday destination and regional hub. Newquay’s origins date back to the 15th century when a “new quay” was constructed to support the growing pilchard fishing industry—giving the town its name. Previously known as Towan Blystra, the town expanded rapidly in the Victorian era with the arrival of the railway, transforming it into a popular seaside resort. Newquay is often called the surfing capital of the UK, with world-famous beaches including the iconic Fistral Beach, which is regularly used for international surf competitions.

Newquay’s town centre is lively and diverse, featuring a wide range of independent cafes, surf shops, and boutiques along with a vibrant nightlife scene with cocktail bars and clubs aplenty. Newquay is well-connected via Newquay Railway Station which is currently undergoing a transit upgrade to offer hourly services to Truro and Falmouth along with Cornwall Airport Newquay a few short miles away offering flights across the UK and Europe. Newquay offers a mix of housing options, from traditional cottages and Victorian terraces to modern apartments and luxury coastal homes. The town has seen steady growth in property demand, especially in areas like Pentire and Porth, which are perhaps the most sought after and expensive areas in Newquay.
